Equus hemionus hemionus (Mongolian Wild Ass)

This species, as in 2010, was selected on the basis of high volume trade in a globally threatened species and a sharp increase in trade. EU imports consisted of 90 wild-sourced skulls imported directly from Mongolia for scientific purposes. All trade over the ten year period 2002-2011 was for scientific purposes (2004: 250 skulls; 2010: 50 skulls).
