In 2011, EU imports comprised 10 950 live specimens, of which the majority (94%) were wild-sourced and the remainder were captive-bred. All trade was imported directly from the United States for commercial purposes. The only other EU import of this species between 2002 and 2010 was the import of 2 500 wild-sourced, live specimens, also directly from the United States and for commercial purposes, in 2008.
